I haven't been blogging during my time in the Shelter because it was so much better to talk with you guys. I mean a blog is great to keep in contact when you're not around. I guess that time is now because I miss talking with you all!!!

What have I been up too? Well after I left the Shelter I stayed at my fam in Pijnacker for a month; one thing I hadn't really been able to during Shelter time. It's been great hanging out there again; spending time with my parents and my little brother. Also they have a garden wich is not bad with weather like this :) Christina my dearest exroomie came to visit me, wich was great! Now i'm pretty much every day in my room catching up schoolwork so that I can go to my fourth year in September.

So you're just studying all summer behind your computer with these temperatures? eeehm no. Next saturday me and my great sister jump in a car and head off south with a tent in the back to camp for a week. After that i'll be going to the Flevo Festival to work there. Every year lots of fun, no matter if it rains or is way too hot; camping, bands, seminars, 10.000 people, talking about God and praising HIm http://www.flevofestival.nl

So being home is ok, but I sure do miss the Shelter. As I went by to visit last week it didn't really feel like a visit but just my place. But a good thing about being here in an almost empty house is to be so dependent of God again. It's just God again and that's sometimes hard for me because I love te be surrounded by people all the time. But it's been so good to my prayerlife, and spending time with God alone! Thanks for writing your blogs so that i'll be updaded. I keep you in my prayers.

Be blessed!

We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. Rom:26b

Nice Start

Hallo everybody,

A week ago when I was at my school in Ede, I had to find out were the Willemstraat was and so I googled ' Jordan, Willemstraat' . The first thing that I got to was the blog of Zac, who wrote about his first day at the Willemstraat. That really comforted me, because it really helped me to get a picture of how things are working over here. So keep writing all of you, for anyone who is interested or curious about our lives here!

So to tell something about my first week here in the Shelter; it was pretty amazing. It's funny to experience to feel at home in a place that doesn't seems like my home-country and still is.
I've learned allready so much from all the people here and from working in the shelter jordan, that it seems like i've been here for weeks!
While i'm writing, I notice that it's easier to speak English than writing it down. One of my maingoals at the moment is also to improve my English. I notice that when I am not able to use words I need to express someting, so many things get lost! Not only to communicate it's good to know English, it's also dangerous not to know translation of words. For example; I had to cook dinner this evening. The cookbook said that you add 400 gram of red peppers. Now what you'll have to know is that peppers in Dutch mean red hot chilly peppers and just peppers are called paprika's . Now this little difference could've killed the whole staff and guests in the jordan!

Other things I learned this week: to make hundreds of pancakes, fried eggs and french toasts in the morning, how to deal with slippery floars, how to bike very fast in the wrong direction of a one-way street, that Sinterklaas is'nt known in other counrties while he comes from Spain, that Sinterklaas doens't like mice, that peanut-butter, chocoladepasta and havermout is actually a really good combination, how to make a good omelett, how to lett a register not drive you crazy, get to know other kinds of bands and cool music, how to get lost in an american tv-show, to get to know totally new words, how to pump up a french bicycle link, a lot of foreign names etc etc.
So it all was really exciting, and i'm so glad that God has brought me here. Working and living here is not just great and a lot of fun, but so much more; He teaches me what it is to work in His Kingdom. It's not in the first place about improving yourself, it's about getting to know His Love and share this whith others. Without His help, I probably wouldn't have managed it all this week I guess. God is great!!
